"Why don't you see how much you mean to me?"

Men I Trust, the indie-pop band based in Quebec, Canada, is my ABSOLUTE favorite band. I've only started listening to them in 2021 a bit after the release of the Untourable Album and I LOVED them. Their basslines (by Jessy) and the ethereal sounding keys (by Dragos) combine to make music that sounds unexplainably cozy. Their blend of different genres while keeping their style consistent is close to perfect. The vocalist, Emma, sings with a voice that sounds oddly bittersweet. One of my favorite tracks is "Billie Toppy" which is a post-punk song noticeably different from most of their discography while still sounding like THEM.

One of the things I liked about them is the story of Paul Brimeau, a mechanic in the Canadian PNW(???) who after hearing his friends talking about fishing, buys fishing equipment and sets off to fish. He, after two failures, one of a bad fishing spot, another from an asshole with a jetski, goes on a shopping spree in a local supermarket and comes home to make his own microwaved sandwiches. The next day, he shares the sandwiches with his coworkers and they loved it. Two years later, he's a celebrity chef specializing in "Microwave Gourmet" on his personal fight for perfection. (Pines)

Paul continues his ascension into the culinary world, Stuck at Time Square, after desperately looking for Hell's Kitchen, he decides to abandon his big city dreams. Finding himself in Philadelphia, he decides to treat himself to the local cheesesteak culture. (Sorbitol and Oh Dove)
